A member of the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Recreation Council, within Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC).

On the New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) Board of Accreditation for awarding professional and practitioner status to members (click here for details). He was on the National Executive of the NZRA until October 2005.
